Franklin Canyon Birds

Franklin Canyon charmed us with its large variety of birds. We love seeing the wood duck couples at the Heavenly Pond. We saw a male hooded merganser on the lake. We also saw lots of other birds we are more familiar with, like the Nuttall’s woodpecker and some dark-eyed juncos.

We love hiking up and down the road to get to the bottom of Franklin Canyon, and we enjoyed the long hike from the bottom up into the hills on the east. It’s especially great in the spring with loads of wildflowers.
